Embracing our Past, Strengthening our Future
MOTOWN MUSEUM
Motown Museum is located in the Historic New Center area of Detroit only three miles from Downtown Detroit. Walk the floors of the original studio where your favorite Motown artists recorded hit after hit from 1959 until 1972. Explore the gallery of rare historical photos and glittering stage uniforms; see the apartment that was home to young Berry Gordy and his family; tour the early Motown office and be a star for a day in Studio A. Imagine sitting at the very piano where legendary artists like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gay composed their greatest Motown hits…singing into the actual microphones that recorded some of the Temptation’s most memorable tunes…
CHARLES H. WRIGHT MUSEUM
Guests journey through the ongoing exhibition with different people of the time periods they are traveling through. Guests begin with an archeologist who guides them through ancient Africa and a market vendor from the kingdom of Benin. Crossing the Atlantic Ocean, they witness the tragedy of the Middle Passage and encounter those who resisted the horrors of bondage, emancipated themselves and took flight by way of the Underground Railroad. Once in the United States guests meet a factory worker at an early Ford factory, experience Paradise Valley of the 1940s and encounter a civil rights activist on his way to a protest in the 1960s. Throughout this trip, the efforts of everyday men and women who built families, business, educational institutions, spiritual traditions, civic organizations and a legacy of freedom and justice in past and present-day Detroit are hailed. What an awesome journey!

Travel alongside giant lake freighters and world traveling ocean ships; pass under the mighty Ambassador Bridge linking the U.S. and Canada, share spectacular views of the Detroit skyline and much more.
BELLE ISLE PARK (Picnic)
The perfect fun destination for the entire family. Belle Isle is a 982-acre (1.534 sq mi; 397 ha) island park in the Detroit River, between the United States mainland and Canada, managed by the Detroit Recreation Department. It is connected to the rest of Detroit, Michigan by the MacArthur Bridge. It is the largest island city park in the United States and the third largest island in the Detroit River after Grosse Ile and Fighting Island.
It is home to the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory (1904), the Detroit Yacht Club on an adjacent island, the Detroit Boat Club, James Scott Memorial Fountain, the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, a Coast Guard station, and a municipal golf facility. The city maintains a Nature Center where visitors are able to traverse wooded trails and view wildlife natural habitats. The island includes a half-mile (800 m) swimming beach.
